Today is our anniversary; Jon's and mine. We have been married 8 years today! Febuary 27, 1999. Can you believe it?! I don't know if I can. I think its the kids that make me feel older than the anniversaries or the birthdays, though. Happy Anniversary to us!!

Planning a birthday party!
Ok, my daughter's birthday is in ONE MONTH EXACTLY! March 16. She will be 7!
If that doesn't make you feel old, I don't know what does! Anyway, we've been looking around, trying to figure out where to do her party; It seems there is a lack of party places that please me this year. First of all, most of them limit you to 10 kids, and lets just say I have 10 kids before we even start inviting the ones from school!! Second of all, the cheapest ones START at about $200, and we are so not going there this year; I'd rather go to SeaWorld! Anyway, I have decided to brave the party thing myself, and do it at home. The theme will be makeovers; I'm planning on doing a few different stations for the girls, hair-dos, hands and feet, and makeup, and maybe let them get dressed up and glammed up and show off! Great, I've got my idea! Now, I need help with the finer points!?! Any input on this would be much appreciated, I am so not a girly-girl, and this stuff is stupid to me, but she's a girly girl, and she will love it. I haven't decided if its going to be a sleep-over yet; if it is, it won't be for all the girls, just a select few. Anyway, any hints or tips (or volunteers to help...) would be much appreciated, as I don't consider myself a creative genius...

STUPID ASS VALENTINES!!
Ok, I hate that my first blog entry is a negative gripe about something, but, hey, what else am I good for?! I don't like Valentine's Day. I don't see the point! Can you please tell me what we're celebrating? Do you even know what your worshipping today? Its a made up holiday by Hallmark, thank you very much! Its not a celebration of love; aren't anniversaries better for the celebration of your love than some random day in the middle of a month that happened to have no other holiday?! Does this day have any meaning for you other than what they said it does? I think I finally broke Jon's spirit on the whole thing, but not completely cause he still got me a card. Our anniversary is in 2 weeks (8 years); can't it wait for that? Normal people can't even do anything on this day, because of all the other people caught up in the madness of the retail holiday!! My family went out last evening; we are about a month away from my daughter's birthday, and we are looking for places to do the party. So, we're driving around, checking out places, and Oh, well, we're already out, let's stop for a bite to eat. So we stop at Julian's for some take out (2 combo bowls will feed my family of 4, plus leftovers!) and so Jon goes in, and they aren't taking "take out" orders today. Great, fine, we'll go in. OH, NO, because they are RESERVATION ONLY today! What BS! We want to go out as a family, something we haven't done in quite a while, and just because this Wednesday happens to be a stupid holiday because Hallmark said so, we can't eat anywhere, because no one is seating unless you already have a reservation! Fast food, it is. Its still BS.
Ok, I'm done with my rant. Its not even a big deal anymore; I know it sounds like it is, ha ha, but I just thought I would share my opinion on the whole disgusting matter, cause that's what blogs are for!

My focus
Ok, I have just racked my brain trying to think of something that would be a good "deadline" for me; I'm not really into the competition thing, if I could find a sport around here to get into, I would be interested, but I can't run, its physically not possible for me; I swear I twist my ankle every time I do, and I've always been that way. Even in high school. So, I'm focusing on the personal trainer thing, with the nutrition thrown in there, and of course, no one wants a fat personal trainer, but I couldn't think of how to put a deadline on that (once you pay for the course, you get 2 years to complete it). So...I'm still working on it...

Reaffirming goals
SEPTEMBER 2007
What do I want?
I want to lose 20 pounds of body fat in the next 12 weeks. I want to do it slowly, safely and healthfully and then keep it off permanently. I want all the fat around my hips and thighs completely gone and I want a firm flat stomach. I want muscle all over my body while still looking feminine. I'd like to see myself at about 16% body fat and maintain all my muscle or gain a few pounds of lean mass if I can, especially in my arms. This is important to me because I want to set a good example for my kids, I want to be healthy and live to at least 90 and I want my husband to look at me and say, "I love your body," and I want to be able to *honestly* say back to him, "me too!"
Daily Goals -
* I am eating 1600 calories a day, split between 5 meals, every three hours, with proper carb, protein, and fat ratios at 50-30-20.
* I am drinking a gallon of water a day to hydrate and purify my body
* I am waking up early, after a good night's sleep, feeling well rested and energized.
* I am working out daily with my husband, doing cardio every day, and alternating strength training and flexibility workouts
* I am no longer drinking carbonated sodas, not even diet
* I am following my weekly menu plan, and only eating cheat meals when they are planned.
Weekly Goals -
* I am so glad that when I weight and measure every week, I have lost 2 pounds of body fat, and my body fat percentage has decreased by 1/2%
* I am working out cardio 5x a week, strength 3x a week, and flexibility 2x a week.
* I am making weekly menu plans to follow for nutritional support
3-month goals - January 1, 2007
* I am so glad to have lost 24 lbs of body fat, bringing down my body weight to my half-way point of fat loss, with more energy than I have ever had.
* I am constantly learning, reading new things and trying new things that help me on my path to a better body, in better health, with more energy to be the person I know that I am, a better mom, a better wife
6-month goals - April 1, 2007
* I am so glad to have lost another 24 lbs of body fat, bringing me to my goal loss of about 50 lbs, with a body fat percentage of 17%.
* I look good in a bathing suite at the swimming pool
* I look good in camisole tops and shorts
* I eat 5 meals per day with proper ratios of lean protein, carbs, and fats, always on time at 3-hour intervals
* I stay well hydrated and purify my body by drinking a gallon of water every day
* I deserve to be healthy and super fit.
* I am developing clean eating habits that are so ingrained in my lifestyle that they stay with me for the rest of my life.
* I am so happy and thankful that I sleep good and feel well rested in the mornings.
* I am striving every day to achieve my personal best, better than I was yesterday
Ultimate long-term goal -
* I am a sexy 60 year old, or better, and I have more energy than before, and I have no problem keeping up with my kids and grandkids!!!
January 2007
My goals are still pretty much the same, I want all this same stuff!! I need to find a bigger motivating reason; so far, I feel like the only reason I want this is to look good. I'm not that interested in competing (yet, anyway), it just seems like it would be such a blow to the self esteem to not be considered worthy, you know? I just don't want to set myself up for that. So, I am still searching for my reason; I am leaning more towards being a personal trainer, and having my own personal success story that will help bolster that, but we will see. My end goal is not so much "weight" oriented as it is body fat percentage and measurement oriented. I would care if I weighed 170 lbs if I looked like this

12-week goals -
1. I have lost 20-24 lbs of fat, and 7-10% body fat, bringing me to 22-20% body fat.
2. I have continued to improve my eating habits, and drink mostly water, at least a gallon a day, and drink my tea without sugar.
3. I have maintained my workout schedule as planned, and have no problems doing my workouts, because I love them!
4. I do research and learn more about good nutritional habits, eventually getting into the personal training program at ISSA (money is an issue here).
5. Throwing in a personal goal here - I will have all my credit cards and my one student loan paid off in three months time, leaving only the one bank loan and car loan left to pay on.
6. WE will buy a house of our very own (renting now) by august 2007, with all our outstanding loans paid off (except car).

Introducing me
Hi - My name is Amanda, and I live in Tyler, Texas. I am 26 years old (my birthday is in two weeks... Oh wait, one week!!! gasp!) I am married, and i have two kids, Kathryn and Jonathan, 6 and 5 (They are 18 months apart). I am a work at home mom (medical transcrptionist), so I see how bad obesity is rampant in our health system, not to mention all the other health problems it causes. I have recently been introduced to the BFFM system, currenlty reading the book, and working on a plan. My main problem is working out; I can't seem to find the time. I have always had body-image issues, although looking back at some pictures, I don't really know what I was thinking then! What I wouldn't give to look like that now (sigh)... Anyway, my dad has alot of heart problems, he had open heart surgery at 39, and my mom just died at 46, so lets just say I have motivation to NOT let my health go bad, especially if its something I can help, like my weight. I am currently approximately 5 feet 9-10 inches, and my BF% is approx 28%. My goal is to get to 18% body fat and lose about 40-50 pounds in 4-6 months.
